EXAMINATION & CLEAN

It is highly recommended to have regular dental examinations and a clean at least once every 6 months in order to improve the quality and health of your mouth and smile. X-rays are one of the most powerful tools for a Dentist to identify any issues with your teeth and gums. They should be taken for every new patient and updated at least once every 2 years in order to identify problems and to help prevent decay.

At every examination, our Dentists will thoroughly examine and record all current potential issues in your mouth. This can involve assessing the health of your mouth including your gums, tongue, lips, cheek and teeth. We also address concerns of missing teeth, teeth pain (caused by decay, cracked tooth, grinding habits) and jaw joint pain.

We may also use our intra-oral camera to highlight any suspect areas and record these images into your file. This information is documented in our dental software so that any changes or problem areas are identified, managed and monitored.

In the regular examination and clean procedure, the dentist will remove calculus deposits and stains from your teeth (by scale and polish), apply fluoride to prevent decay and discuss ways to improve your oral hygiene - This may include recommending dental products and where necessary, instruct on their proper usage . Each examination is done thoroughly and as comfortably as possible.

Our Dentists are highly educated and skilled with the knowledge to identify oral diseases. We routinely assess for anything abnormal and will inform you of our findings and manage them accordingly. Patients with habits such as: smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, poor oral hygiene, gum disease, poor diet or family history have a higher risk of developing oral cancer or having other oral related problems.
